Oqvi
Privacy Policy
Last updated October 5, 2026
This policy explains what Oqvi keeps on your iPhone, what it sends to provide identification, AI answers and subscriptions, and which optional analytics you can control.
Who provides the app
Oqvi is provided by Kenneth Marcel S De Geest, a self-employed developer based in Spain. Privacy and support questions may be sent to degeestkenneth@gmail.com.
Information stored on your device
Your discoveries—including photos, identification results, notes, favorites, saved AI answers, dates, collection settings, and precise map locations—are stored locally on your iPhone. The app does not operate a developer-hosted collection or cross-device account for this content.
You control whether a discovery receives a location. Location permission can be changed in iOS Settings, and individual pins or all local app data can be removed from within the app.
Photo identification
When you request identification, up to five photos attached to that discovery are sent through a developer-operated service to Pl@ntNet and OpenAI to produce an identification suggestion and helpful context. Oqvi does not send your unrelated library photos, personal notes, precise saved map locations, or the rest of your collection with that request.
You choose the photos you capture or add. Camera and photo-library access can be denied or changed in iOS Settings. Identification requires a network connection.
AI questions
When you ask a follow-up question, the question, the suggested name and category, and up to two photos shown beside the question box are sent through the developer-operated service to OpenAI. These can include the saved discovery photo and a close-up you add for that question. You can see the included photos before sending. Your private notes, precise location, and unrelated discoveries are not attached.
AI and image-identification results can be incomplete or incorrect. Do not use them as the sole basis for decisions involving edibility, toxicity, allergies, health, fire risk, structural safety, or environmental management.
Service data and providers
The app uses a limited set of service providers:
- Supabase provides anonymous app authentication, secure server functions, and usage controls. It processes a pseudonymous user identifier, request timing and type, a record of whether the free identification was used, and technical information needed for security and reliability.
- Pl@ntNet and OpenAI process the photos or questions you deliberately submit to provide identification suggestions and answers.
- RevenueCat processes purchase receipts, entitlement status, product selection, and subscription events so paid access can be unlocked and restored. If you enable usage analytics, it also receives paywall impressions.
- Apple processes App Store purchases, billing, refunds, StoreKit transactions, maps, geocoding, and device permission controls.
- Firebase Analytics and Crashlytics receive pseudonymous app-interaction events and crash diagnostics, respectively, only when you enable those separate options in the app. Events may include a random installation identifier, device and operating-system information, and general feature or purchase-funnel activity. They do not include photos, question text, notes, or precise map pins.
Oqvi asks for your analytics and diagnostics choices in the app. You can change either choice in Settings. Declining them does not prevent identification or paid access. Limited request metadata and responses may be retained briefly to retry interrupted service requests; uploaded photos and question text are not stored in those usage records. Service providers may also retain technical logs under their own policies and legal obligations.
The app does not receive full payment-card details, does not sell personal information, and does not use your data for advertising or tracking across other companies’ apps and websites.
Maps, sharing, exports, and backups
Apple map and geocoding services are used when you choose to add or view a location. Search terms or coordinates needed for the requested map feature may be processed by Apple under its privacy terms.
Nothing is shared automatically. If you export a field sheet, backup, image, or other item through the iOS share sheet, it is passed to the app, service, or recipient you select and their privacy practices apply. Apple device or iCloud backups may also contain app data depending on your Apple settings.
Retention and deletion
Local discoveries remain on your iPhone until you delete them, clear app data, or remove the app. You can delete individual discoveries or use Settings to delete all local app data. Because the developer cannot access content that exists only on your device, it cannot be remotely deleted for you.
The service keeps a pseudonymous record of whether your one free identification has been used so reinstalling the app does not reset the allowance. Short-lived request records support retries and abuse prevention. Deleting local app data or reinstalling the app does not remove those service records or cancel an Apple subscription. Contact us at the address below for a request concerning data Oqvi controls.
Copies you exported or shared, device backups, purchase records held by Apple or RevenueCat, and limited security or diagnostic records held by service providers must be managed separately and may remain for the providers’ stated retention periods or legal obligations.
Security and international processing
The app uses iOS protections and encrypted network connections intended to protect information. No storage or transmission method can be guaranteed completely secure. Service providers may process limited information in countries outside your own, subject to their safeguards and applicable law.
Children
The app is not directed to children under 13 and does not knowingly seek personal information from them. A minor should use the app only with permission and appropriate supervision from a parent or legal guardian.
Your choices and rights
You can decline or revoke camera, photo-library, and location permissions; choose not to submit an identification or AI question; disable optional analytics and diagnostics; edit or delete discoveries; remove the app; and manage subscriptions through your Apple Account settings.
Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights concerning personal information. For a privacy request, email degeestkenneth@gmail.com. Requests concerning information controlled by Apple, OpenAI, Pl@ntNet, Supabase, Firebase, or RevenueCat may also need to be directed to that provider.
Changes to this policy
This policy may be updated when the app’s features, service providers, or legal requirements change. The date above identifies the current version.
